Christ makes web-enabled Lego robot

'He's not the messiah, he's a very clever boy'...

A German robotics fanatic has created the first web-enabled Lego component.

German developer Olaf Christ has managed to port an internet protocol TCP/IP stack with Lego's Mindstorm robotic platform.

Mindstorm is the central mechanical control system, which acts as the 'brain' of robots made from the popular building blocks. Christ's breakthrough means Lego robots can now be connected directly to the internet.

Christ is now planning to build a web server entirely out of Lego and detailed his idea on the LegOS newsgroup earlier this week, where he said he is planning to develop his invention further. He said: "Writing a very small web server shouldn't be that big a deal."
