Amazon sells Segways. Only the seriously rich need apply - but it is all for charity...

The first Segway Human Transporters have gone on sale on Amazon.com's auction site - with the proceeds set to go to charity.
Dean Kamen's wonder-invention, which has been eagerly anticipated since tentative details were released more than 12 months ago, is finally available to the public - though after just one full day of bidding in the sale, which ends on 28 March, the price is already up to $50,000 for each of the three models available.
Kamen's charitable foundation First, which aims to inspire young people to get into science, will benefit from the proceeds of the auctions. The first edition Gingers will be numbered and signed by Kamen himself who will present them to their new, and doubtless proud, owners.
