Old people's homes in Japan are turning to technology to care for their residents.
The Kourien care home, outside Osaka, has employed robot-teddy bears, designed by the Matsushita electronics company, to watch over and interact with its old people. The team of 53 teddy bears report to staff and alert them if the residents show signs of distress or struggle with their daily tasks.
The furry informers have so far proved a big hit with the residents who signed up for the trial.
