'Do pay attention IBM'...

IBM today announced a raft of James Bond-style security measures for its ThinkPad notebooks and NetVista desktop PCs.

Fingerprint readers and wireless badges to identify users are just some of the features on offer. IBM claims the features will make it easier for users to control access to sensitive files.

The Client Security software uses wireless proximity badges to verify users eliminating the need for a separate key fob to generate codes for virtual private networks.

In addition, IBM has released version 3.0 of its Client Security software. Updated features include the ability to set policies such as different forms of authentication for sending email, local file encryption and cryptographic management tools.
