Tenants of Islington council are to benefit from a trial of new interactive services over digital TV.

One hundred residents are to get the chance to get direct access to the council for activities such as reporting abandoned cars and obtaining health information.

Residents will also be able to email the council directly with further queries.

In future the council hopes to add services allowing tenants to pay rent, council tax and apply for housing online.

Islington council is supplying people taking part in the trials with a digital set-top box in order to receive the new services via their TVs.
