AMD has said its move into laptops will compensate for its slacking desktop business enabling it to overtake rivals.
The company has for some time lived in the shadow of its greatest competitor, Intel.
However, with the launch of its new chipset technology, codenamed Hammer, AMD hopes to remove its reliance on desktop chip sales. Currently, this accounts for the majority of overall revenues.
