Games developed by the US military are being targeted at civilians this summer to attract new tech-savvy recruits.
Two games have been developed, a role playing game entitled 'Soldiers', and 'Operations', which enables a gamer to fire at enemies while carrying out a mission.
Previously the army has acted as a consultant to game makers but this is the first time it has created its own software.
The US Army has invested around $7.5m in the development of the games. They will be attached to gaming and internet magazines as freebies during July and August.
