Intel has released the first Pentium 4s for laptop computers with a clock speed of 2GHz.
Mobile processors come in smaller packages than the desktop variety, with better power management features and correspondingly higher prices.
The 2GHz mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor-M sells for $637 (£423). The 1.9GHz version of the chip, also announced today, sells for $401 (£266). All prices are for 1,000-unit orders.
Intel also announced a range of cheaper Celeron processors for laptop computers, with clock speeds of 1.5GHz, 1.4GHz and 1.33GHz, selling for $170 (£113), $149 (£99) and $134 (£89) respectively.
