Online sperm bank launched

An online sperm bank is to be launched next month targeting lesbian couples wanting to have a baby.

The site, called mannotincluded.com, enables potential donors to register online and mothers-to-be can search the database to find the ideal father for their child. The database will have detailed information about the donor, such as his physical appearance and background.

Initial registration costs £80 and introduction to the donor costs £400. Any wannabe donor can pre-register with the site and the organisation will then contact the candidates.

Donors, who will remain anonymous throughout the process, will receive around £60 per donation, according to John Gonzales, the founder of the company.

He said the company vets the donors carefully: "The potential donor will be personally contacted by us but not every man is accepted as a donor. Once we have agreed on the donor, we take some tests via a local clinic. Once all the tests are clear, we'll wait for the lady's fertility cycle and the donation can be couriered directly to the potential mother within half an hour."
