US services company Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has won a contract with the UK Department Health (DoH) worth £39m over seven years.

The DoH will use CSC's services to improve remote and offsite working and communication between the NHS and its partners, according to Dr Andrew Holt, director of IT within the DoH.

Guy Hains, president and CEO of CSC's UK operations, said in a statement: "We have focused on the public sector for many years in the U.S. and across Europe. This is a significant step forward for CSC in the UK and, I believe, the beginning of a highly successful public sector campaign for us."

The contract would allow the department to extend the deal beyond the initial seven-year period.
