Will you try WiFi before you fly?

A further 11 European airports are about to offer passengers wireless net access, having signed up WiFi specialist Megabeam to provide hotspots in their terminals.

A network at Brussels airport goes live today, with Liverpool John Lennon, London City, Oslo Gardermoen, Milan Malpensa, Rome Ciampino, Turin and Venice airports all being switched on to the Megabeam network within the coming weeks.

Roaming agreements with Aptilo Networks and Mikom bring Copenhagen and Istanbul airports to the network, while a hotspot at Munich airport will be added as part of a multi-provider project.

Megabeam already has hotspots in Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino airports, and 15 train stations in the UK (http://www.silicon.com/a54568 ).

The deals will allow Megabeam subscribers to access their corporate networks, email and the internet from any wireless-enabled laptop computer or PDA when in the airport terminals.

Ryan Jarvis, CEO, Megabeam, said: "Internet access is a valuable and profitable service for every major airport to offer its passengers, but this is especially true at key hubs where business travellers want to catch up with their emails between flights."
