Motorola has launched its first range of military-grade PDAs.
The first of the Windows-based HC700 range to arrive, the HC700-L, will come with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, as well as barcode reader and stylus interface.
However, unlike the average PDA, the phones are specifically built to withstand tough conditions, including a six-foot drop and temperatures between -20ºC and 60ºC.
According to Motorola, the devices are aimed at remote workers for warehouse work, salesforce and asset management or field service.
The handset maker will introduce more of the hardy handhelds in early 2006.
