And BlackBerrys not only increase an individual's productivity but also that of their overall team with the average user increasing team efficiency by 38 per cent, according to a study - sponsored by BlackBerry maker RIM.

Users of the devices are also not left out of pocket, with the average user saving more then $5,000 per year thanks to having immediate access to and acting on BlackBerry-delivered info and an ROI of around five months for the gadget, the study of 1,335 BlackBerry users and 1,387 IT managers claimed.

A typical year will see a BlackBerry user processing 2,500 emails and making 1,200 phone calls from the smart phone device, according to the study.

BlackBerry users also tend to put in more hours than your average employee and earn more money, according to a separate study published at the beginning of the year.
