The iPhone needs more functional software to bring it up to the level of PDAs. The hardware and UI are already there.
When I say software, I mean professional 'just works' stuff not ropey homemade quickly knocked out on Appstore stuff.
Android needs some decent hardware and software developed for it to compete. We'll see.
