Sema launches online train booking system

By Polly Raymond

Published: Monday 09 November 1998

Sema confirmed today that a ticket buying and reserving system developed for one of the UK's main train operators will go live in December.

The computing systems developer refused to name the operator, but said it is one of four that have expressed an interest in opening their reservation systems to the public via the Internet.

When the system goes live, passengers will log onto the system where they will be able to reserve and pay for tickets with their credit card. A spokeswoman confirmed that this will be possible in December, but the full service won't be running until May 1999.
