Sky betting venture gets the Tote vote

UK gambling authority the Tote has approved the launch of interactive betting site attheraces after the site passed testing and audit procedures.
The service, which is owned by Arena Leisure, BSkyB and Channel 4, will now go live on 11 December.
Arena Leisure operates a number of UK racecourses, including Lingfield and Windsor and will provide the service with live coverage of races. At launch the service will consist of its flagship website attheraces.co.uk with an interactive TV channel launching on Sky Digital in May next year.
Fixed odds bookies are currently being selected to join the service.
Sky was recently blocked in its attempts to launch an interactive betting service with UK bookmaking giant Ladbrokes.
