
Japanese electronics giant Hitachi has seen profits jump from Y4.8bn (£30.2m) to Y62bn (£391m) for the six months ending 30 September.

The huge rise in profits was due to the rise in demand for chips used in digital cameras and mobile phones.
Hitachi beat the revised net profits of Y55bn (£349m) it set during September.
Sales were also up to Y4tr (£25.4bn) from Y3.8tr (£24.1bn) for the same period a year ago.
