McDonalds will migrate Caldera International's OpenServer Release 5 platform to more than 4,000 stores over the next two years.

According to Caldera, the OpenServer will assist McDonalds in relaying data from the stores' point-of-sale machines to its corporate headquarters, as well as provide access to corporate applications.

In addition, the server will reduce costs by allowing the use of less expensive hardware.
