IBM unveils new CEO

Inside man gets the top job...

IBM has named Samuel Palmisano as its new CEO.

Palmisano will take over from Louis Gerstner as of 1 March. Gerstner will remain as Big Blue's chairman until the end of the year.

Palmisano has been president and chief operating officer at IBM since July 2000. He joined the company in 1973.
