AMD lays out chip roadmap

It's Hammer time...

AMD has unveiled the first details of its chipset line designed to accompany its 64-bit Hammer processors.

The release confirms AMD's plans to have Hammer itself released by the end of this year, when it will compete with Intel's much-vaunted 64-bit McKinley processor.

It also announced support from manufacturers Acer Laboratories, Nvidia, Silicon Integrated Systems and Via Technologies.
