
Out-and-out winner...

Sun has shipped more Unix systems than all of it competitors combined during the first quarter of this year, according to the latest figures from Gartner Dataquest.
The figures, which relate to the US, show Sun had year-on-year shipment growth rates of 17 per cent, generating $925m in revenues.
In the Unix market, Sun achieved a 64 per cent shipment market share and a 54 per cent revenue share. Sun was also ahead of its competitors in terms of revenue growth over last year, which was 3.3 per cent.
Last month, figures from IDC showed IBM beat Sun to the top spot by just 0.01 per cent in the last quarter of 2001.
