Microsoft and IBM ponder Sun web services deal

'Go on, let 'em in...'

The organisation founded by Microsoft and IBM to oversee the development of web services standards could be about to pave the way for the entry of thus far excluded vendor, Sun.

The WS-I has voted to set-up a committee to work on introducing two new board members.

IBM has been keen to make Sun a board member to enable it to contribute to the work of the organisation. However, Microsoft has shown resistance to giving Sun a seat because it has so far refused to become a standard member of the organisation.

Sun wants to be made a fully-fledged founding member and has so far resisted joining the organisation.
