This is entirely consistent with IBM's strategy of being number 1 in each of its markets. PCs are a high volume, low margin business and there is no commercial benefit to IBM in staying there. The cash generated by this deal will have significant benefits... and let's not forget that IBM provide the innards to many Dell PCs :)
