In brief: Dell aims at data centre market

Dell is expected to position itself as a server supplier for corporate data centres next month, with the launch of a high-end product and extended service and support offerings. Steve Jackson, European server business manager, said: "We are becoming more of an enterprise player, with more customer services. We will be offering a broader range of engineering and other services. And as Intel launches bigger and faster chips, we will use our partnerships with Wang Global and Unisys to follow it into the data centre environment." Jackson promised an announcement next month, once Intel has launched its 4-way Pentium II Xeon chipset, due June 29.
