HP buys into Fibre Channel SANs

By Ian Jones

Published: 4 May 1999 14:23 GMT

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has bought Transoft Networks - a specialist in Fibre Channel-compatible Storage Area Networking (SAN) equipment.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but HP said Transoft's technology will give its existing SAN product range a major boost by adding support for remote storage devices linked over Fibre Channel networks.

Transoft's 60 staff will become full-time employees of HP's Enterprise Storage Business Unit and its SAN Manager product will be re-branded as a HP product.
