IBM has unveiled an open architecture network storage appliance (NAS).
The hardware called TotalStorage IP Storage 200i is based around the iSCSI standard for transmitting SCSI storage protocols over IP and can be linked to an Ethernet LAN (local area network) for data-intensive applications.
Prices for the IP Storage 200i begin from under $20,000 with capacities ranging from 108GB to 1.74TB.
