HP has unveiled a group of storage products and services to help companies to cope with back-up problems.

The announcements are part of HP's Federated Storage Area Management (FSAM) strategy, which tries to increase the amount of data managed on network without adding to human resources. HP's FSAM strategy, announced this February, is based on Virtual Array 7100 software, HP Surestore hardware and HP OpenView software.

The announcements include HP OpenView Omniback II 4.1 software that can be used to eliminate data recovery windows and optimise uptime. A back-up tool called Surestore Fast Recovery Solutions is now included in the HP hardware Surestore Virtual Arrays.

An updated HP OpenView Storage Area Manager software suite features better integration with HP OpenView software and support for multi-vendor storage management.

HP also unveiled a storage consulting service for data centres, which features storage analysis, design and consolidation implementation.
