Storage hardware giant EMC has unveiled a new storage server aimed at helping companies with their reference files.
Reference files, often large chunks of data made up of such things as medical x-rays and video files, can now be accessed more easily through EMC's Centera server, which is based on EMC's Content Addressed Storage (CAS) architecture.
The Centera server allows quicker and easier retrieval of these often cumbersome files and is designed for managing large amounts of fixed content, the company said.
CAS is a complementary platform to Storage Area Networks (SANs) and Network Attached Storage (NAS).
