The storage-on-demand market is set to grow massively, according to the latest study.
IT consultancy IDC found the storage utility sector, which provides hosted storage services or storage-on-demand for companies, is set to become a $1.2bn global industry by 2006. This represents annual growth of 32 per cent.

The report concluded the storage utility method is likely to be popular among large outsourcers, big telcos and niche players which want to provide storage apps on tap.
