Hitachi Data Systems has partnered with Brocade, with the two storage vendors promising that the move will help users of storage area networks (SANs).
HDS will distribute Brocade's SilkWorm 3250 and 3850 switches, which address the SME market, and the SilkWorm 24000 Director, which is a higher capacity switch for larger enterprises.
HDS competes with other storage giants such as EDS, HP and IBM but also partners with others, such as Sun, to gain access to technology for the reselling of its products.
Brocade, which has felt pressure in recent quarters, especially as networking giant Cisco upped its SAN offerings, welcomed the move.
