Here an avatar attempts to withdraw virtual money from the Smartbank system found on IBM's company island in Second Life.

The technology simulates a high volume banking environment and shows how ATMs can be linked to simulate withdrawals.

IBM showed off the technology to silicon.com at its research facility at Hursley near Winchester, and our photo story has all the details.
