Viglen, the IT company owned by Sir Alan Sugar, has landed a hardware deal with the Office of Government Commerce to supply hardware to a number of public sector organisations.

Under the contract, worth up to £30m, Viglen will provide around 50,000 desktops and 20,000 laptops with the option of TFT screens.

The company will also provide support to the 45 public sector bodies covered in the deal including NHS and local education authorities.

The deal will last two years, with an optional one-year extension and was awarded through a reverse auction.

The £30m agreement will mean savings of around £10m for the public sector compared to previous auctions.

Earlier this year, Viglen inked another public sector deal, to supply a storage platform to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
