Some items definitely have sentimental value:

I happily "Freecycled" 386s, 486s & Pentiums, but keep the ZX81 & the Camputer Lynx.

Paper & books are my great weakness - probably because I'm so guilty about not reading them!

Some books have pages of pre-calculated tables, the result of a huge effort:

When doing calculations, it's great that we can now just press a computer key rather than having to wade through pages of tables - A technology & a skill which have so quickly become completely obsolete.

Thinking of the "Ship Burials" at nearby Sutton Hoo, and of the ultimate downsizing:

What would signify a modern potentate: A diamond encrusted Blackberry, MacBook or iPod?
